Plantar Fasciitis – an integrative approach

Plantar Fasciitis is a painful, inflammatory condition that can affect people and athletes in a variety of ways.  Usually, people will find themselves in pain during walking or standing.  There are also times when quick change of direction or repetitive jumping can trigger a flareup of pain.  Foot over-pronation, also known as flat feet places extra tension and stress on the plantar fascia, which results in micro tearing of the tissue.

In acupuncture, I take an integrative approach to help you manage this type of pain and support the muscles that are supposed to keep the foot arch lifted.

Sports style acupuncture techniques will be utilized to heal local inflammation and generate blood flow to nourish injured tissues.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis, people who suffer from flat feet may have deficiencies in spleen and kidney meridian systems, because both meridians pass through the local muscles affecting the foot arch.  Most interestingly, the spleen organ in Traditional Chinese Medicine governs muscle health and lifts up Qi to prevent collapse or prolapse of organs.
